Lets End Senior Loneliness!

Today is the day that I announce my commitment to my life’s work of ending senior loneliness. It is the silent epidemic that I don’t believe is getting enough attention or support to overcome, so I am going to take it on and I am excited to commit.

I heard on a podcast that suffering from loneliness is the health detriment equivalent of smoking 15 cigarettes a day. England and Japan have ministers of loneliness to combat this epidemic. I have a scalable plan to take this issue on.

My grandmother, uncle, and mother in law suffer from it even if they won’t admit it. I try my best to call and visit but it isn’t enough. I have some thoughts on how to go about overcoming this. Not just for them, but for all of the seniors who are suffering in silence. Their fears are that they don’t want to be a burden on others, but I think I can help them to be more present while not having to be a perceived imposition on the ones they love. They need our support, and I know that we want to give it to them.

So please let me know your thoughts on how best to end senior loneliness? Together as a community, as a country, as a global society we will help to conquer this horrific plague. It is time to roll up our sleeves and go to work!
